Tri-State turf, a Grower Partner of Buy Sod, Inc., is seeking to hire a motivated Assistant Harvest Manager responsible for assisting with all aspects of daily field operations to ensure that the farm’s production goals are met. This includes correct quantity, quality, and post-harvest handling on all produce until it leaves the farm. This is a second shift position starting at 5pm.

Experience/Education: Must have ability/willingness to learn to operate Harvester Computer, ability to email, text and operate an electronic tablet, ability to operate forklift, light mechanical skills, working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession, ability to communicate effectively (to include Spanish speaking employees), share our core values of service, quality, integrity and innovation, and proven management/teamwork skills. Ability to measure and calculate weights required. Must have the ability to adapt to change, availability to work second shift, ability to work in adverse weather conditions required.

  • Tri-State turf, a Grower Partner of Buy Sod, Inc., is seeking to hire a motivated Equipment Manager responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the operations of a comprehensive preventative maintenance and repair program and equipment safety programs. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service.Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Monitor and track equipment on a daily basis, by location, type and use.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchase repair parts and replacement supplies.
  • Keep a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
  • Help to prepare purchase orders for rental equipment; tracks each piece of rented equipment by assigned location.
  • In coordination with mechanic, inspect, diagnose and repair equipment.
    Instructs workers regarding preventative maintenance, and the proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment.
  • In coordination with Safety and Compliance Manager, investigate accidents, develop/lead training programs & initiatives.
  • Inspect the company’s equipment on a weekly basis or as required to be safe and compliant with all DOT requirements (on equipment where applicable).
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Experience/Education: Must have a working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses, skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession, ability to communicate effectively and keep business records, ability to help diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. Possession of a valid CDL required. Basic computer skills: MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. Qualified candidates will be highly organized, detail oriented, have a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills. Must have the ability to work flexible hours and be on call for equipment/vehicle failures to include, but not limited to, early AM/PM, nights and weekends and hours that could fluctuate day-to-day, ability to work in adverse weather conditions required. Must have the ability to lift, push, pull heavy materials (50+lbs) frequently.

Buy Sod Inc., a multistate agribusiness company with sod farms in the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia is currently seeking a talented and motivated Full Time Payroll Coordinator to join our growing team in our business office located in Pinehurst, NC. This position is responsible for timely and accurate organizational payroll. Must have thorough knowledge of computer payroll systems. Duties for this role include but are not limited to: Processing payrolls for a multistate organization for weekly, biweekly and monthly pay depending on the entity, completing quarterly tax filing review, inputting and/or maintaining all relevant data for new hires and employee changes which includes salary changes, performance evaluations, status changes and other miscellaneous information in an accurate and timely manner, reviewing employee time sheets and other pertinent information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies, staying informed of deduction and tax law where it applies to the payroll process, interfacing with all employees in a confidential manner while servicing their payroll needs professionally.

Education/Experience: An Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred but not required. Three to five years’ previous experience in a fast paced, multi state/ multi company payroll environment is required as is knowledge of computer payroll systems and Microsoft Office. Attention to detail, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change a must!
