If you want a beautiful lawn (and of course you do!), you’ll want to pay special attention to slopes and areas under trees.
With slopes, watch for runoff, which can occur before the soil reaches adequate moisture. To correct this issue, turn off the water when runoff begins, wait at least half an hour, and restart watering the same area. Repeat this process until your lawn has achieved proper moisture.
Trees and turf compete for water, so watch the areas under your trees carefully. The right amount of water for your grass may be too much or too little for the type of trees in your yard. A common solution is to avoid placing sod under the drip line of trees. Use those areas for perennial ground covers, flowerbeds and/or mulched beds.
